Big League Dreams USA LLC will handle maintenance and operations . Gilbert, which expects to get between $500,000 and $1 million annually from the facility, is required to have the park substantially complete by Nov. 30 as part of a maintenance and operations agreement with the company. “We’re going to meet our contractual obligations to Big League Dreams,” Mood said. Gilbert’s Big League Dreams complex, near Recker and Elliot roads, will host adult league, youth baseball and softball games, tournaments and clinics. The facility will have eight ball fields, model after big league parks such as Chase Field and Wrigley Field . Workers started laying sod for the ball fields this week, Mood said. Completion of the facility is scheduled for November. Big League Dreams would need to have access to the complext by the first week of October to be able run leagues in 2007, said Jeff Odekirk, chief operating officer of Chino Hills, Calif.-based company. ACA players are from the all over the world, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies as well as a few players from the USA. There are five different grounds in Phoenix and on one in Tucson and the playing season in Arizona starts in September and ends in April. Games are played as part of the Arizona Cricket League and Team and Association sponsors are always welcome and can expect to receive a variety of benefits. Since each roster can hold only 11 players, new teams are formed whenever enough new people join the league. |
