While you’re enjoying your summer trips through Arizona, here’s some background information on what the desert geologic features are and mean. Desert USA is one of my favorite websites because it shares my love of the desert environment and profiles many of the unique aspects that we have, such as a long history of geologic discoveries. Being a mineral-rich state, we have unique animals and wildlife, no, not dangerous ones, fun ones such as our roadrunner, cactus wren, owls, javelina, etc. Then there’s our unique wildflowers, trees and plants that are nowhere else in the world, such as our saguaros and cactus of all kinds and shapes. Where else can you make candy and syrup from the fruit of a saguaro?

And of course, we have a unique culture, with unique people, such as our Navajo, Hopi, and other 21 tribes that have made and continue to make an important imprint on our styles. art and history.
