More reasons to be thankful this season!
This is the season of Thanksgiving, and I have many, many reasons to be thankful. However, this month I want to tell you about two of my past clients who have really, really gone out of their way to support two very admirable causes.
One is my now friend, Suzanne Southard, who for the second year, is running in the PF Chang’s Rock n’ Roll Marathon here in Phoenix, going through Scottsdale and Tempe. Suzanne is running for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, where her husband is a radiologist.
Lucky for Suzanne, she likes to run! But, still training is awesome! Thankfully, we have great weather, and great trails throughout her subdivision, the McDowell Mountain Ranch masterplanned community. This is one of the things that drew Suzanne to the area. Great schools for her children, and places her sons can skateboard, not to mention those many miles of trails!
Meet Suzanne, and wish her your best! Just her training is 16 miles! We’re talking awesome!
My other past client, and now friend, is Debra McCarthy, who moved here from Colorado, and is now actively helping the Breast Cancer 3Day Walk in Phoenix! It’s November 13-15, 2009. There will be thousands of walkers and hundreds of crew members keeping everyone safe. It is an experience unlike anything you have ever seen!
Like Suzanne, this is Debra’s second year participating to the max for this worthy cause. Last year had a poignant finish to her participation because after all her training (formidable!), she ended up spraining her ankle two days before the walk and her team pushed her 60 miles in a wheelchair!
This event isn’t easy, but she wouldn’t be doing it again if she didn’t believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, weary night and training walk. Follow her as she comes down the finish to her training and gets ready to do it again!
So, YES, I am thankful for my new friends, and very, very proud of them. They didn’t waste anytime giving back to the community, and in doing so have gained many new friendships, not to mention the esteem of those new friends.
